MoD likely to agree for additional land for Dabolim Airport

In a new development surrounding the Dabolim-Mopa conundrum, Union Ministry of Defense (MoD) is likely to agree to providing additional land space for further development of Dabolim Airport. The expected additional land to be allotted is to be between 9 to 13

When contacted after the CWC meeting at AICC Delhi, Union Ministry of Defense A K Anthony, confirmed that there has been a request for additional land space from AICC General Secretary Luizinho Faleiro for the Dabolim Airport and we are considering it.

GoaChronicle.com spoke with Faleiro on the issue who commented that the Centre has been appraised at every level about the complexities of the Mopa airport and the need for Dabolim airport to be strengthened. One of the main requisite for optimum functioning of Dabolim airport is additional land. So the MoD is looking at trying to address the issue in the interest of the people of Goa.

“I cannot comment further on what decision MoD will take. But we have tried to make the MoD aware of the concerns of the Dabolim airport,” said Faleiro.
