MoI Agitation Continues…

The State Government has been facing a series of agitations by Bharatiya Bhasha Suraksha Mach (BBSM) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for recognizing English as the medium of instruction.
BBSM and BJP jointly held protests on Friday at the launch of Diabetic Registry in Kala Academy, Panjim and at the Dilip Sardessai award presentation ceremony at National Institute of Oceanography, Dona Paula.
The police arrested 15 protestors who tried to disrupt the function at Kala Academy, following which Leader of Opposition Manohar Parrikar laid siege in the Panjim police station till all the protestors were released.
The agitation continued near NIO on Friday evening, wherein the protestors were stopped much before the NIO gate. Parrikar walked into the function and stated that he wanted to know the stand of Sports Minister Manohar Azgaonkar, who was supposed to be present for the function.
After almost 15 minutes, Parrikar returned back to the crowd and said that the protests will continue in the state till Kamat recalls his decision to grant MOI status to English.
