The confusion over the medium of instruction at primary school level continues and PWD Minister Churchill Alemao has even threatened to boycott the cabinet meeting proposed to be held to clear the air.
With the monitoring committee constituted by the government to oversee the implementation of the new police vis-à-vis the medium of instruction observing that there were many deficiencies and recommending the cabinet to decide upon it, the government appears to be thrown in a tizzy.
Significantly, the monitoring committee comprising of bureaucrats – chairman Education Secretary V P Rao and with Director of Higher Education Bhaskar Naik, Director of Education Celsa Pinto and Deputy Director of Education Anil Powar as members has also sought Law Department’s clarification on the objections raised over it.
Churchill has not only threatened to boycott the cabinet meeting if it is called to roll back the government’s decision on MoI but has even threatened to withdraw from the government over the issue.
“I have not given any threat to the Chief Minister but only conveyed my sentiments,” he said while speaking to media persons at Margao.
Education Minister on the other hand claimed to have no knowledge about the monitoring committee decision asserting that the committee is scheduled to submit its report on 27th June.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat said he would convene a cabinet meeting to discuss the issue and rectify the anomalies so that the decision is implemented from the current academic year itself.
