Students of Presidency College in Kolkata hurled eggs at Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia to protest against price rise. However, they missed the target.
Students belonging to the Students Federation of India, the student wing of CPI-M, according to eye witnesses, pelted eggs and tomatoes at Mr. Ahluwalia as he was leaving the college campus after participating in a national seminar on economics organised by the University Grants Commission.
However, Mr. Ahluwalia took the incident in his stride stating that the students had a right to protest.
Black flags and poster and placards critising Mr. Ahluwalia greeted him on the campus with some posters even accusing him of being an American agent.
The students were protesting against inflation which has been quite high for quite some time and even figured in the ongoing session of the Parliament.
