The investigations into the alleged sexual abuse of two minor girls at the government-approved NGO – Mother Theresa Welfare Trust (MTWT) in Jamshedpur have opened up a pandora’s box of more horrific tales with information tumbling out of more minor girls being abused at the children’s shelter home over the last four years.
Revealing the shocking details, Superintendent of Police (City), Subhash Chandra Jat told the media that Thapar and his wife Pushpa were running an NGO, Mother Teresa Welfare Trust at Kharangajhar where minor homeless girls were being given shelter. “The incident came to light when two of the minors, about 16-years-old each had on June 6 alleged Thapar to have been molesting them. Later during the investigation, the involvement of three others had come to light. Police have registered an FIR under POCSO.”
On the filing of the FIR by police, four accused had gone missing but have now been arrested from the Singroli District in Madhya Pradesh.
According to the investigations of the Jharkhand Police, it has been learned that the two girls, aged 16 and 17, have given video-recorded statements. The girls said they were physically and mentally tortured at the home and made to give in to the sexual demands of the perpetrators. The statement of the two girls has been recorded by a POCSO court.
Mother Theresa Welfare Trust is a Jharkhand government-approved NGO. And it reportedly has no links with Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity.
