Mumbai Police in Delhi to arrest Arnab Goswami in the TRP Scam?

New Delhi: Members of the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police are reportedly in Delhi to arrest Republic Media Network’s Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami in the alleged TRP scam case.

Republic TV’s Advocate Abad Ponda stated during the hearing in Bombay High Court on the plea filed by ARG Outlier parent company of Republic TV challenging the FIR filed in the TRP scam case implicating the channel. “ I am making a solemn statement that the Maharashtra Police has reached Delhi to arrest them. I have received a message at 2.30 pm. It is there on my phone.

However the Chief Public Prosecutor stated that, “no coercive steps will be taken against persons referred to in running page 21 of the chargesheet filed by Mumbai Police in the TRP case till tomorrow.”

Earlier this Sunday, Republic CEO Vikas Khanchandani was arrested by the Mumbai police on Sunday after an early morning raid, just a day ahead of the anticipatory bail hearing. He has now been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days by Metropolitan Magistrate court at Esplanade, Mumbai in the fake TRP scam.

Maharashtra police had arrested Arnab Goswami on November 4 from his residences in Mumbai. He was produced in the Alibag court on the same day and sent to judicial custody. He was in jail for eight days and walked out of Taloja jail on November 11 after the Supreme Court granted him bail.

Maharashtra Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to DCP Crime Branch, Mumbai Police, and sought a detailed report justifying Republic Media Network’s CEO Vikas Khanchandani’s arrest.
