Kolhapur: Maharashtra BJP president Chandrakant Patil on Wednesday alleged that the incompetence of Maha Vikas Aghadi led to failure of Maratha reservation issue in the Supreme Court.
In a press conference here, Mr Patil demanded that a special state Assembly session be convened to deliberate on the future course of action on the matter.
Mr Patil said the Supreme Court has repealed the state government’s decision to give reservation to Maratha community. The court also registered it’s observation that the conclusion of Gaikwad commission, constituted by the state government, that Maratha community has social and educational backward, was also totally wrong.
He said that former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had pleaded Maratha reservation issue in the High Court properly but present MVA government did not take it seriously. Hence, the Maratha community will suffer due to the MVA’s incompetence as the government proved unsuccessful in persuading the court to give more than 50 per cent reservation.
With today’s court’s decision, the future of 32 per cent Maratha youth has plunged into darkness, he remarked.
