Gangtok: BJP national president JP Nadda interacted with North Eastern State party presidents and other office-bearers over a video conference about COVID-19.
Sikkim State BJP president DB Chauhan, MLA Sonam Vechungpa participated in the conference on Saturday evening with others at Golitar, Singtam .
Mr Nadda laid stress on the proper coordination between states and the centre for containing COVID -19 Pandemic. “BJP has been running a helpline for the North Eastern States, anyone presently out of state in problem may contact,” he told them.
He informed the state unit about the release of Rs 25 crore to Sikkim government as part of the first instalment towards containing the virus and treating the affected.
He was joined by National Secretary Generals Ram Madhav and BL Santosh, Secretary-General North East Ajay Jamwal.
State President Chouhan responding to JP Nadda’s enquire over the spread of the pandemic and steps being taken to contain it alongside outreaching relief to needy said, “Sikkim does not have any case of the disease so far.”
However, in other parts, the state government and all others have been working in unison to contain whatever little the coronavirus has spread, he said.
BJP National executive has been informed about the required amount of food, masks, sanitizers and other essentials that will be provided to needy by the state unit members.
They have also contributed to Prime Minister’s Modi Care fund for tackling the pandemic. He expressed gratitude for all that is being done for the State.
