The XXI Dipaji Rane National Trekking Expedition organized by the Saahas Academy, Goa in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs and World Wide Fund for Nature India, Goa Division is scheduled at Sahyadris in Santre, Valpoi from 26th to 30th December.
The purpose of the programme is to kindle a deep sense of love for adventure among the youth, to offer them well organized and properly supervised new trekking routes and healthy outdoor recreational activities, to inculcate the art of camping-hiking, trekking, to expose them to nature in order to develop right attitude towards conservation of the environment, love for wildlife, to acquaint the youth with interior parts of the state and enhance an awareness of the environment, to inculcate the importance of preserving nature and environment for generations to come.
The expedition is open to students and youth from various educational institutions. Participants have to bear all travel expenses from their place to the base camp in Santre. Rs 1000/- will be charged for non-Goan participants, Rs. 400/- for participants from educational institutions, Rs 2500/- for family camping consisting of husband wife and 2 children up to 15 years of age. Participants who successfully complete all the treks and obey the camp discipline will be awarded with certificates.
The inaugural ceremony will be held on 26th December at Satre, Valpoi and certificate distribution ceremony will be on 29th December.
