Panaji, Oct 25 (GCNews) As part of Navy week celebrations, INHS Jeevanti, the Naval hospital at Vasco conducted a blood donation camp in collaboration with Goa Medical College (GMC) on Wednesday.
The camp was inaugurated by Flag Officer Commanding Goa Naval Area Rear Adm and Mrs PG Pynumootil, NM in presence of the Commanding officer of INHS Jeevanti Surg Capt & Mrs P D Ayengar. In the camp, an overwhelming response was witnessed from service personnel and defence civilians. As many as 110 volunteers came forward to donate blood and a total of 91 blood units were collected.
Throughout the camp, there were smiles and laughter all around- a true embodiment of selfless service with smile. The donors received certificate of recognition from the Commanding Officer INHS Jeevanti who personally expressed his gratitude to all the donors.
The hospital has organised similar camps in the past also where Indian Naval personnel, their families and the Defence civilians have contributed generously for the cause. Such efforts would go a long way in saving lives in times of emergency in a nation where blood is always in shortage and every drop counts.
The camp was co-ordinated by Surg Cdr Megha Singhal, duly assisted by HQ Goa Naval Area, a statement from Navy said.
