Puducherry: As many as 36 fresh cases were recorded in the Union Territory since the last 24 hours, ending at 10 AM on Saturday, taking the tally of infection cases to 38,425.
According to COVID-19 status released by the health department here, of the 3,233 swab sample tests taken on Friday, 36 people tested positive for the virus.
About 23 new cases were reported in Puducherry region, four in Karaikal region, one in Yanam region and eight in Mahe region.
In the last 24 hours, 51 persons were discharged and 37 of them were from Puducherry region, 9 from Karaikal region, and five from Mahe region.
Presently, 106 patients are being treated in Puducherry region,10 in Karaikal region, two in Yanam region and 44 in Mahe region.
Another 166 persons were tested positive for the virus and taking treatment under home isolation in all the four regions of UT.
So far, 38,425 persons were infected by the virus and of which 37,461 patients were treated and discharged, 636 people died and 328 patients were undergoing treatment in hospitals and home isolation.
The case fatality rare in the UT is 1.66 per cent and the recovery rate is 97.49 per cent.
