Panaji: A delegation of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) called on Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference in the city, NCP Goa President Jose Philip D’Souza said,” Today we called on the Governor and apprised him of two issues- law and order and education. We discussed with the Governor that law and order has collapsed in the state. We informed him about the instances of political interference in police investigation.”
”Second issue which we discussed with the Governor was education. Students who have passed Xth standard are not getting admissions to XI standard. Their future prospects are getting hampered. We requested the Governor to see that the interests of the students were protected,” he said.
To a question, D’Souza said that it was a courtesy call and a written submission of the demands would be made later.
He said the Governor assured that he would discuss the issues with the government.
He said he did not raise the issue of mining with the Governor but opined that it was an important issue and must be addressed as early as possible.
