The Nationalist Congress Party has also demanded 12 per cent reservation of seats for Scheduled Tribes at the next Goa Legislative Assembly.
Speaking to media persons, NCP’s Goa Observer Bharati Chawan said that at least 4 to 5 seats should be reserved for the Scheduled Tribe community at the next elections and further demanded that there should be a minister for ST.
The announcement made a day after the Goa Pradesh Congress Committee had demanded 12 per cent reservation for ST community at the assembly elections.
AGRICULTURE COLLEGE: While announcing that the NCP in collaboration with the union Agriculture Minister headed by its supremo Sharad Pawar will work towards setting up an agriculture college in Goa, the NCP also opined that a college would be able to counter the rampant destruction of cultivable land due to mining.
SUSPEND POLICE: The NCP also demanded that the three officers named by Chandru Gawas should be suspended from service immediately and Chawan disclosed that an official letter has been addressed to Chief Minister Digambar Kamat regarding this issue.
33-year old Gawas who was employed as driver with the Crime Branch committed suicide due to harassment by senior officers Police Inspectors Pravin Vast, Sunita Sawant and Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandrakant Salgaonkar.
