Aurangabad: Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has said that the new coronavirus strain has not been detected in the state till date.
The minister, who was here to enquire about the health of a few patients, added that the government was taking all precautions to ensure that the citizens of the state remained vigilant. The new strain which was found in Britain is 70 per cent more transmissible.
Mr Tope was in city to visit MIT Hospital and Research Center where the kidney transplant surgery successfully performed on the patients. Six of them were discharged during his visit.
Addressing a press conference, Mr Tope said, so far, 47 people have arrived in Aurangabad from Britain. Swab samples were already collected from them and so far two of them were tested positive for the virus, he added.
