New GPSC Chairman a relative of Goa CM alleges RTI Activist

Adv. Aires Rodrigues has today stated that the recent appointment of Kurapati Dwarakanath Row, a close relative of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar as the Chairman of the Goa Public Service Commission will be challenged before the High Court.

Stating that the selection and appointment of Kurapati Dwarakanath Row being not in accordance with law was made with a pre-conceived mind and in a determined manner, Adv. Rodrigues has alleged that it was a pre-meditated plan to appoint this relative of the Chief Minister as the Chairman of the Goa Public Service Commission.

Adv. Rodrigues has further alleged that the decision making process was neither transparent or objective and that no effort had been made to choose the best possible talent to discharge the constitutional function as the Chairman of a very important and constitutional authority, the Goa Public Service Commission.

Rodrigues stated,”Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was bound to disclose his relationship with the Kurapati Dwarakanath Row and in fact, ought to have recused himself from making this recommendation and refrained from taking any decision on the appointment.”

Wondering whether Kurapati Dwarakanath Row was the only person who could be considered and appointed as Chairman of the Goa Public Service Commission, Adv. Rodrigues has questioned as to why

Pointing out that distinguished personalities of impeccable personal integrity, caliber and qualifications including some retired judges have headed the Goa Public Service Commission in the past, Adv. Rodrigues has decried that the recent Chairmen of the GPSC were politically handpicked so that the  fair and independent working of Goa Public Service Commission could be conveniently fiddled with
