Hassan, May 24 (GCCurrentAffairs) Following severe drubbing Janata Dal (S) received in the Lok Sabha elections that led to its national president H D Devegowda lose from Tumakuru and the party winning a loan seat, the newly elected Lok Sabha member, Prajwal Revanna today said that he was ready to vacate his Hassan seat in favour of Mr Gowda, who is his grandfather.
Speaking to newsmen here on Friday, Prajwal said that he has decided to resign to the Lok Sabha and make way for his Grandfather.
Prajwal , in his maiden attempt to Lok Sabha had registered a resounding victory against his nearest BJP candidate A Manju by a margin of over two lakh votes.
He said, “The decision to quit the Lok Sabha seat is of my own and did not had talks with any other members of my family.”
However Prajwal, was not in a mood to relish his victory as his grandfather bite dust against five time MP and BJP candidate G S Basavaraju by a slender margin of over 12000 votes.
Deve Gowda had allowed his grand-son Prajwal to contest in Hassan in which he had got elected for five terms to the Lok Sabha, before deciding to migrate to the neighboring Vokkaliga dominated Tumakuru seat.
Prajwal’s halfbrother, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of the Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, had also lost in a fiercely contested Lok Sabha elections in Mandya Lok Sabha seat, to an independent Candidate Sumalatha by a margin of over one lakhs.
Prajwal is the son of PWD minister and Gowda’s son H D Revanna.
