New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday filed first supplementary charge-sheet before Ranchi NIA Special Court under sections 120 (B) and 386 of IPC, sections 13, 17, 18, 20, 38, 39, 40 of UA (P) Act and section 17 of the CLA Act 1908, against four accused Manoj Kumar, Krishna Da aka Krishna Hansda, Sunil Manjhi aka Sunil Murmu and Manoj Kumar Choudhary.
All the four accused were resident of Giridih district of Jharkhand and have already been arrested except Krishna Da who has been still absconding in the case pertaining to extortion by CPI (Maoist).
The case relates to the arrest of accused Manoj Kumar on January 22, 2018 by the Jharkhand Police after collection of levy amount of Rs six lakh and was going to deliver the extorted funds to the cadres of CPI (Maoist).
A case in FIR No. 06/2018, dated 22.01.2018 was registered at PS Dumri, district- Giridih, Jharkhand and NIA took over this case on July 21, 2018 and re-registered it as RC-21/2018/NIA/DLI.
The NIA investigation in this case revealed that accused Manoj Kumar Yadav, was working as Over Ground Worker (OGW) of the CPI (Maoist), a proscribed terrorist organization, and was the conduit between the contractors and the banned organization.
With no clue available initially, breakthrough in the investigation was achieved after extensive and meticulous examination of several witnesses and rigorous technical analysis.
The probe agency officials revealed that arrested accused Sunil Manjhi, Regional Committee Member of CPI (Maoist), and absconding accused Krishna Da, a ‘Regional Committee Member (RCM) and Secretary, North Chotanagpur Zone of CPI (Maoist) were involved in raising funds by collecting levy through extortion for commission of terrorist activities by way of attacking security forces, damaging public and private property, disrupting public peace and killing innocent people.
It was further established during investigation that Manoj Kumar was also CPI (Maoist) cadre who used to collect the levy amounts and hand over the same to the other senior members of the proscribed organization, the NIA said, adding that further investigation in the case is under progress.
