Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday informed the State Legislative Assembly that no alternate feasible site has been finalized for shifting of casino vessels from River Mandovi as of date and the matter is under examination.
In a written reply in response to a question tabled by Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavalekar, Parrikar, who also holds Home Portfolio, said, a total of six offshore licenses had been issued by the state government for the casinos in the river.
He said after April 1, 2015, two offshore licenses had been renewed by the Home Department.
The Chief Minister said the licensee was required to obtain all the permissions/approvals/licenses
etc as required under the law before actual commencement of the operation and all direction/Policy
decision issued by the State Government from time to time.
He also said the government had not concluded to divert/close/shift the vessels along with Casinos
or shutdown casino business in the river of Mandovi.
