No safety of women in Bengal!

As there are assembly elections going on in West Bengal, violence as its repercussions can be seen in Bengal. Amidst all these several spine-chilling incidents can be heard. One of them was an attack that happened on an 85-year-old woman Shova Majumder who was the mother of a BJP worker. On February 28 BJP had said that Trinamool members had thrashed Ms. Majumder. On 29th of March the lady took her last breath and succumbed to her injuries. While recovering from the grief of this loss the state yesterday saw one more shameful action of TMC.

On Monday, the wife of a BJP worker was reportedly raped, the incident took place in Tentul Bari area in Nandigram Block No.2 in the Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal. This incident took place ahead of upcoming polls in the Nandigram constituency on 1st April. According to reports the victim’s husband is an active worker of the BJP.

In the past as well he was intimidated by the Trinamool goons on various occasions. According to him he was busy attending the election rally of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Monday. When he returned to his home in the evening, he found that his wife was missing.

Later the BJP worker found that his wife had been lying in an injured and unconscious state behind his house near a drain. With the support of the locals, he was able to rescue his wife. Her condition was not good. Her mouth, hands and legs were tied, and her saree was tightly knotted around her neck. The BJP worker also said that his wife’s body had multiple bruises and had evidence of rape. In emergency the victim was admitted at the Reyapara Rural Hospital at night. When her conditions got worse, she was shifted to Tamluk District Hospital for further medical treatment. As per Calcutta News her condition is in a critical state now. The state office of BJP has accused the TMC members of rape and attempt to murder. This incident has created the atmosphere of fear in the area.

Narrating the whole incident and speaking about the matter BJP state chief Dilip Ghosh said that “TMC is trying to create an atmosphere of fear and terror after being aware that they cannot win elections. Women’s safety has become a major concern in the state and the change of regime will soon take place.” Dilip Ghosh also dismissed the claims of Mamata Banerjee wherein she said that the daughters and mothers are safe in the state of Bengal. Interestingly Mamata Banerjee herself is contesting the polls from Nandigram constituency.

Nandigram seeks huge importance for West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee engaged in a straight showdown with BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari, her once trusted loyalist in the constituency. Speaking at a rally at Sona Chura, Nandigram, Mamata Banerjee said: “I could have contested from any other constituency, but I have chosen Nandigram to pay my respect to the mothers and sisters of this place.” Ironically, this statement of Mamata Banerjee came hours after the incident of Tentul Bari was reported.

West Bengal has become a hub of political violence. Since the time the BJP has made successful entry into the state, TMC goons have reached to uncontrolled hooliganism and they started doing severe atrocities on innocent people of the state. Most shocking is Mamata Banerjee’s double standards towards women of the state being a woman herself.
