Not vying for South Goa MP ticket: Kamat
GoaChronicle.com spoke to Kamat via an SMS exchange. To a question asked, ‘Whether he had met with the Congress high command to discuss the possibility of a Congress MP ticket?”. He replied, “I have had no such discussion with the Congress high command and neither am I throwing in my hat to contest the Lok Sabha Election 2014.”
Congress has currently got one MP from South Goa Francisco Sardinha. In the coming LS 2014, Goa Congress will be looking to retain the South Goa seat and also capture the North Goa seat from BJP currently held by Shripad Naik. However, senior Congress leaders in the state do not appear to be confident on retaining the South Goa seat under Sardinha and have not been able to zero down on a North Goa candidate after their decision to not share it with NCP.
