Now Dhavalikar sings ‘Hindu Nation’ song

Not wanting to be left behind after his brother the PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar courted controversy with his ‘No short skirts, no bikini’ statement, Deepak Dhavalikar stirred-up a hornet’s nest with his comment that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will help develop India into a Hindu nation.

“If we all support it and we stand by Narendra Modi systematically, then I feel a Hindu Rashtra will be established,” Dhavalikar said in the state assembly today on a motion congratulating  Modi on BJP’s victory in the national election.

Both Sudin and Deepak Dhavalikar are a part of the Maharastrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) – an alliance partner of the BJP in the current ruling government in Goa. Incidentally, MGP is also the political party spearheading the Marathi language dominance in Goa to give it an equal importance as Konkani. MGP is also the political party that advocated the merger of Goa with Maharashtra soon after the liberation way-back in the 1960s.
