Now guns turned on Pratima to favour Jitesh in Youth Elections
The question however doing rounds in Goa and Delhi on this new development is the sequence of events – first the disqualification of Valanka, now the questions being raised on Pratima and the permission being granted by the Election Commission to Jitesh Kamat to contest the election even after receiving a disqualification show-cause notice; many believe that there appears to be a sinister move to favour the Chief Minister’s favored candidate Jitesh Kamat. This is not denying the fact that Valanka Alemao through her father’s good office did try to get the ministers, MLAs and even the chief minister to get their youth members to vote for her.
With the Indian Youth Congress election handbook specifying very clearly that a candidate cannot contest if they have any offense of serious criminal nature in which the conviction is imprisonment up to five years; it will be interesting to see what will be outcome since our investigations into the complaint against Pratima indicated that so far she has not been charge-sheeted for the offence nor has she been issued any summons by the court of law, this is because the complaint has been labeled as a non-cognizable offence by the police authorities.
Representatives of the Indian Youth Congress revealed that they are looking into the matter and will act appropriately if a violation has been found.
