Now pay more for Electricity

Electricity will now be dearer to the people of Goa as power tariffs in the state have gone up by an average of 11.85 per cent. This increase in energy costs comes close on the heels of a duty hike a little more than a month back.
The government in its Budget 2012-13 had raised the duty on electricity units consumed by 2 paise for domestic consumers and by 12 paise for commercial and industrial consumers. This hike was only on the energy consumed and not on the energy itself. The duty was earlier 18 paise per unit and is now 20 paise per unit.

The revised energy tariff that will hit more than six lakh consumers will effective retrospectively from June, says the Order of the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the state of Goa and Union Territories.
