Olympian Sushil Kumar remanded to four more days of police custody

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Saturday remanded Olympian Sushil Kumar and his associate Ajay Kumar to four more days of police custody in connection with the alleged killing of wrestler Sagar Dhankhar at Chhatrasal Stadium.

The police have asked for seven more days of remand of the duo. “In the interest of justice, I deem it appropriate to allow the application of the police for four days only”, LiveLaw quoted Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Mayank Goel as saying.

The 38-year-old wrestler Kumar, who was on run since the incident on May 4, was arrested by the Delhi police on May 23 after a non-bailable warrant was issued against him. He has since been under the remand of the Delhi police.

The Delhi Police had registered a case under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder) and sec 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and several others sections of the IPC and Arms act.
