Inspector general of prisons Mihir Vardhan said that team of doctors and jail authorities has been dispatched to the jail to conduct medical checkup of inmates. Prisoners have complained about loose motion and diarrhoea after consuming dinner on Thursday.
“We have referred six prisoners to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) for treatment,” said Vardhan. There are around 125 prisoners currently serving sentences at Aguada jail.
North Goa superintendent of police Vishram Borkar said they have deputed staff to escort the jail inmates to GMC. “We are providing security to the prisoners so that they do not escape from the hospital,” he added.
