Oppn stages walkout in LS as BJP fields Parvesh Verma to debate on Prez address

New Delhi, Feb 3 (GCCurrentAffairs) Opposition Congress and members of other parties, including DMK, AIMIM and RSP, staged a walk-out in the Lok Sabha on Monday as the BJP fielded its controversial member Parvesh Saheb Singh Verma to initiate debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address.
As soon as the Speaker Om Birla asked Mr Verma to initiate the debate, Congress floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and other opposition members were up on their feet objecting to his participation in the debate.
While nothing could be heard in the din, Mr Chowdhury and his party colleague Gaurav Gogoi and other Opposition members, including the likes of Asaduddin Owaisi (AIMIM) and T R Baalu and A Raja (both DMK) and others, raised objection to Mr Verma’s participation as the West Delhi lawmaker was recently in news for his alleged vitriolic remarks in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections.
Speaker Mr Birla ruled that the Opposition members should not set a ‘bad precedent’ and make an issue of something said outside the House.
“Galat parampara shuru mat kijiye….,” the Speaker said while several opposition members raised anti-government slogans.
However, as the Congress floor leader was disallowed to make his point, the Opposition members staged a walk-out.
Initiating the debate, Mr Verma said the same Opposition parties and their leaders have used abusive languages against Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling him ‘Hitler and Maut Ka Saudagar’ and it is they who are today questioning the treasury bench about decorum in public conduct
