Opposition corners Tourism Minister on WTM

Tourism minister Dilip Parulekar along with Power Minister Milind Naik faced the ire of the Opposition for spending Rs 1.01 crore for four days at the World Travel Mart held in London in the first week of November last year.

Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai questioned whether the Goa government is to sign a power agreement with a London based company, since the presence of a state-level power minister at a International tourism event raises a question of government sending some its ministers on family trip at tax-payers expenses.
Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte questioned the tourism minister on the focus of the government towards tourist from London, since Parulekar stated that the government spent more money this time to focus on increasing tourist from the European countries, however tourism figures indicate that tourist from London is on a decline.
BJP MLA Michael Lobo too got into the discussion wanting to know which countries is the tourism department focusing on since Goa tourism quality is dropping considerably with each passing day.
