New Delhi: Listening to the petition filed by SC lawyer and social activist Shashank Shekhar Jha demanding for a CBI inquiry, Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Maharashtra govt to file copies of chargesheets of Palghar mob lynching case before it.
The SC also instructed the Maharashtra government to apprise it about status of inquiry on role of cops in the case.
The mob-lynching in Palghar led to the unfortunate and brutal death of Panchdashnaam Joona Akhada” namely Chikne Maharaj Kalpavrukshagiri age 70 years and Sushilgiri Maharaj Kalpavrukshagiri age 35 years along with their car driver ilesh Telgase aged 30 years dated 16.04.2020 who were traveling to attend the funeral of their Guru Shri Mahant Ram Giriji to Surat, Gujrat from Maharashtra.
Reportedly their car was stopped by a mob of over 200 people while they were passing from Gadhchinchale Village, Kosa, Palghar, Maharashtra during a period of National Lockdown which raises a serious suspicion on part of local police and administration.
Despite of Police officials from Kasa arriving at the place of incident and taking them in their custody, berserk mob pulled them out of the police jeep and lynched them to death in most horrific manner during which, police did not take any concrete step to protect these innocent men which could be proved by the fact that they didn’t use any force to disperse the crowd. One of the video even shows that one of the police official actually pushed sadhus into the crowd when they were asking for the protection
