1. What do you think are the changes that have happened in Goa in the last four years and what do you see in the future of Goa in the next four years?
Goa – especially South Goa where I normally stay is looking cleaner and the rates are better.
I see a lot of international tourists specially Russians and our shacks and restaurants have Menu Cards in Russian. Also the prices have increased. However, it is still a pocket friendly destination.
In the next four years, Goa will have more domestic and international tourists and it should concentrate on creating more business parks and industries, so that those Goans who do not wish to be in the Service Industry – have alternate employment opportunities.
2- What are the most critical issues working towards Goa’s advantage?
Goa’s culture accepts cosmopolitan behaviour along with its pleasant weather and its grand beaches.
3- What are the most critical issues working towards Goa’s disadvantage?
Prices are increasing and in certain parts of Goa, foreigners have taken over the trade such as Restaurants and Taxis/Transport and are operating on their own thereby denying the livelihood of the local Goans. Also there are group of people including some in power who make statements – which is not what the majority of Goans think.
4- What does Goa need to do over the next four years to be recognised as a Global destination?
Goa needs many more hotels and a proper world class proper – Convention Center which is recognized globally thereby making it a leading global destination
5- Are the people of Goa its biggest drawback or its biggest strength?
The people of Goa are its biggest strength and can never be considered a drawback.
