Panaji, Sep 15 (GCNews) Goa Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Michael Lobo on Saturday said that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar would distribute portfolios to the existing ministers so that administration could function smoothly.
Speaking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar at a hospital in North Goa, he said, “Portfolios would be distributed today to existing ministers so that the administration of Goa can run smoothly and ministers can take decisions on any files. He will distribute 48 portfolios, but will keep two or three like Home, Finance, GAD (General Administration Department) for himself.”
When asked about change in the leadership in the state the Deputy Speaker said no decision had been taken in this regard and Parrikar would continue as chief minister of the state.
“This (change in leadership) can be only discussed at a time when he cannot continue anymore. Till then it is not right to discuss that. The national leaders will discuss with core committee. If that need arises, if that moment arises only then a decision on change will be taken,” Lobo said.
Besides his key portfolios, Parrikar is holding portfolios allotted to Pandurang Madkaikar and Francis D’Souza. While Madkaikar is recuperating in a hospital in Mumbai, D’ Souza has gone to the US for treatment.
