Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Manohar Azgaonkar said that sports as important as education and advised the students to participate in sports and build a career in it. Azgaonkar was speaking at the closing ceremony of XIIth Advance Summer Coaching Camp organized by the Directorate of Sport s and Youth Affairs at Pernem on Friday.
He said the State Government’s sports policy envisages allotment of marks, exemption of absenteeism, job reservation and admission to professional courses to the students participating in sports at at taluka, state, national and international level.
In all, 150 students under the age group of 15 years participated in kabaddi, kho-kho, football and volleyball during the 21 days residential camp.
Speaking further he said coaching is imparted in various sports disciplines for boys and girls to improve their sports skills and urged students to avail of these benefits for competing at state as well as national level.
Sports and Youth Affairs Director Dr. Susana de Souza, explained about Advance Mega Coaching Camps organized at different places in the state.
