Pastry Outlets Booked For Cheating People

Officials of the Legal Metrology Department booked five cake and pastry outlets for cheating people by selling them less than the claimed weight of cakes and pastries.
According to the officials, these outlets included the weight of the cardboard base on which the cakes and pastries are placed to calculate the weight of the cake even though the cardboard base is not part of the cake.
A cake claimed to be 1 kg in weight actually weighed 75 gms to 150 gms less and hence the outlets were booked for selling less than the claimed quantity to the customers.

Customers have been advised to pay for the actual cake and not the cardboard base and the manufacturers have been asked to state the net weight of the product for sale.
