RDA Minister Churchill Alemao who was visibly upset to see the South Goa Office of the Rural Development Agency practically devoid of its staff immediately ordered the suspension of four employees while also demanding that the Project Director be transferred forthwith.
Churchill conducted a surprise inspection of the RDA office in South Goa at Margao and found that the peon had signed for three other persons on the attendance register. Following enquiries, he directed that the peon, the head clerk and two LDCs be placed under suspension which was done and the four have been asked to give their explanations.
Churchill also called up Chief Minister Digambar Kamat from the RDA office itself and demanded that Project Director for RDA South Goa Melvyn Vaz be transferred immediately on grounds that he has failed to instill discipline and order in the office.
He also complained that it was because of the lackadaisical attitude of the South Goa office of RDA that the schemes of the department are not being utilized in the district while in North Goa thousands of people are availing the scheme.
