John Philip Pereira, one of the persons who had filed the Public Interest Litigation before the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court over the SEZ issue, has demanded a thorough investigation by a central government agency like the CBI in the land allotment scam.
The court in its order about a fortnight ago, had observed that the land allotment to SEZ promoters was done in a hasty manner and without adhering to the procedures and without even scrutinizing the applications properly.
Advocate F E Noronha addressing media persons in the presence of John Philip Pereira said the entire land allotment was a scandal as the hand written applications without company seals were approved even though they were not accompanied by a project report.
John Philip also demanded the resignation from the Goa Industrial Development Corporation from all Directors who were party to the deal and also demanded action against the bureaucrats who were part of the GIDC when the land was allotted to the SEZ promoters.
He also demanded the resignations of Speaker Pratapsing Rane and Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira along with GIDC Chairman Chandrakant Kavlekar for the dubious role played by them in this issue.
He said the total scam involved not only allotting the land to the promoters but also giving it at a cheap price and even free in case of land meant for open spaces and roads.
