South Goa Collector G P Naik vide a notification has made it mandatory for hotel management to demand a photo identity of every guest checking into their premises.
Smart Cards, Election Identity Cards, PAN cards or any other card having a photograph and issued by a recognized authority should be provided by the guests and the same should be shown to police by the hotel management whenever demanded. In case of foreign nationals, ‘C’ forms will have to be furnished.
Contravention of this order will attract punishment under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code which attracts imprisonment for a period ranging from one to six months and/or a fine ranging from 200 to 1,000.
Superintendent of Police South Goa, Margao and Sub-Divisional Police Officers at Margao, Quepem and Mormugao are designated officers to file FIR on behalf of the State against those found violating the order.
The order which came into force on 2nd November will be effective for 60 days unless withdrawn earlier.
