New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for a reset of mindset, processes and practices in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic which has posed enormous challenges before the world.
Pointing out that the restart of the economy will not be possible without a reset, Modi asked, Will we continue with the learnings of Covid 19 and use videoconferencing or will we fly to a different continent to attend the meeting.
The Prime Minister was addressing the third annual Bloomberg New Economy Forum virtually.
“Over the next two decades, India and some of the African Nations are going to witness the biggest wave of urbanisation. But the Covid-19 pandemic has posed enormous challenges before us”, he told the forum.
“Our cities cannot prosper without availability of affordable housing. We launched the Housing For All programme in 2015, We are well our way and will deliver more than 10 million houses before the target date of 2022”, he said.
Pointing out that the historic reconstruction efforts after the two world wars provided several lessons, the Prime Minister said, “Post world wars the entire world worked on a new world order and changed itself, Covid 19 has also given us a similar opportunity to develop new protocols in every field; this opportunity should be grabbed by the world if we want to develop resilience system for the future.”
