New Delhi, Aug 26 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid rich tributes to Bharat Ratna
Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said one of his greatest contributions was to bring about a ‘new political culture’ in India and said one such major achievement was to ensure political stability by making anti-defection more strict.
“It was decided during the tenure of Prime Minister Vajpayeeji to fix the size of Council of Ministers to 15 per cent of the size of the State Assemblies. This saved lot of government money. Atalji also made the anti-defection law stricter,” Prime Minister Modi in his monthly radio broadcast ‘Mann-Ki-Baat’ over All India Radio.
Prime Minister also said Late Vajpayee brought a very distinctive and positive change in India’s political culture. “He brought good governance into national mainstream,” Prime Minister said.
Mr Modi made reference to the devastation left by this year’s unprecedented flood in Kerala and hoped the spirited people of the state will be able to overcome the hurdles.
He also lauded the role being played by forces including Army and NDRF and various other wings that are working towards relief work in Kerala.
Prime Minister also said Sanskrit Language is deeply associated with India’s culture.
