New Delhi, Mar 14 (GCCurrentAffairs) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the SAARC nations to chalk out a common strategy to fight Coronavirus.
‘Coming together for common good! On 15 March, 1700 (hrs) IST, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead India at the video conference of all SAARC member countries, to chalk out a strong common strategy to fight COVID-19 in the region,’ spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry Raveeesh Kumar tweeted.
In the wake of rapid spread of Coronavirus infections across countries, including South Asia, Mr Modi had on Friday proposed a conference of the leaders of Asian nations, to discuss coordination and strategy to combat the South advance of the disease.
‘I would like to propose that the leadership of SAARC nations chalk out a strong strategy to fight Coronavirus. We could discuss, via video conferencing, ways to keep our citizens healthy. Together, we can set an example to the world, and contribute to a healthier planet,” Mr Modi had tweeted.
The move was welcomed by all SAARC countries, except Pakistan
