Kolkata, May 15 (GCCurrentAffairs) Intensifying its hunt to retain power at the Centre for second time and to make inroads into Trinamool supremo Mamata Banerjee’s bastion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will storm Bengal today to woo the electorate.
With just days left for the last phase of elections, Mr Modi during his visit to the state will address two back to back rallies- one in Basirhat Lok Sabha Seat and another in Diamond Harbour LS.
Earlier, in a Tweet, the Prime Minister said, “The campaign takes me eastwards today. Happy to be in Paliganj (Bihar), Deoghar (Jharkhand), Basirhat and Diamond Harbour (West Bengal).”
In Basirhat Lok Sabha Seat, Mr Modi will seek votes for party candidate Sayantan Basu who is up against TMC celebrity candidate Nusrat Jahan while Congress and Left have named Quazi Abdur Rehman and Pallab Sengupta respectively.
The seat is currently held by TMC’s Idris Ali who in 2014 defeated Nurul Hooda of CPI by over one lakh margin.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will seek votes in Diamond Harbor Lok Sabha Seat – a seat from where Mamata’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee is seeking his second term.
Bharatiya Janata Party fielded Nilanjan Roy against Banerjee, while Faud Halim was named by CPI(M) and Soumya Aich Roy by Congress.
