New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday turned 70, joining the ‘elite’ group of septuagenarian.
To mark the Prime Minister’s birthday, the BJP has launched a nearly three-weeks-long country-wide celebrations and events, that commenced on Monday (September 14) and will culminate on October 2.
Among the programmes scheduled for Thursday, a collection of letters,written by the PM three decades ago titled-‘Letters to Mothers,’ to ‘Jagat Janani’ (Goddess Mother), focusing on his ‘ambitions and anxieties’ will be released.
The weeks-long celebrations will also see a number of other initiatives like distribution of carry bags made of cloth in urban areas as part of BJP’s anti-plastic campaign.
The programmes will also include holding blood donation camps,free eye check-up camps, spectacle distribution and plasma donation among others.
The Prime Minister’s 70th birthday coincides with ‘Mahalaya,’ ‘Tarpan,’-paying of reverence to ancestors, and also ‘Viswakarma Puja,’- another ‘New Normal’ during the Corona ‘era.’
