Even as the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Court on Thursday granted bail to David Driham alias Dudu, police are considering issuing Look Out Circular (LOC) against him to prevent him from leaving the country even though the court has directed him not to leave India.
Dudu was arrested on 21st February 2010 at his residence in Anjuna and police had recovered a cocktail of drugs from him. He has been in news in recent times with his sister and girlfriend carrying out a sting operation exposing Police Sub-Inspector Sunil Gudlar selling drugs to them.
Incidentally, the police are considering issuing LOC against Dudu as it came in for severe criticism last year after another Israeli drug dealer Yaniv Benaim alias Atala jumped bail and escaped to his home country despite the LOC issued against him. Atala was arrested last month in Peru and the police are seeking his extradition to India.
According to Goa Police spokesperson Atmaram Deshpande, Dudu will have to remain in Goa as the charge sheet is already filed against him on 13th December 2010, necessitating his presence in the courts. Besides, he will also be required by the CBI now probing the Sunil Gudlar selling drugs case.
The NDPS court granted Dudu bail with a bond of Rs 1,00,000 and two sureties of the same amount. Besides, he was ordered not to interfere with the investigations nor tamper with evidence. The court also specifically asked him not to leave the country.
