Police Sex Racket: Anticipatory Bail for Head Constable Rejected

Anticipatory bail plea of suspended head constable Waman Naik prime accused in the police-prostitution nexus has been rejected on Tuesday by the addition session court in Mapusa.

The petitioners counsel Gopal Kenerkar said that the order of the lower court will be appealed in the High Court. The court had asked Waman Naik to be present at the time of order whereas he remains absent and produced the sick certificate before court.

Investigating Officer Sunita Sawant said that they are trying to trace him as the certificate produced before court does not stop her from arresting Waman.

Interestingly the certificate which Waman has produced before court is certified by Dr. Jawaharlal Henriques from Anjuna who has faced controversies of same nature. In its medical certificate, Henriques said that Waman is suffering from a gas problem and depression, and he advised Waman 10 days complete rest.

“We will track Naik down” Sunita informed. Waman Naik and two other police personnel were suspended from service after the crime branch filed the FIR against them for keeping links with prostitutes and pimps following a complaint from Auda Viegas, a social activist.

GoaChronicle.com has also learnt that besides exploiting the girls, Naik used to run a prostitution racket with the girls and supply clients some of whom are senior police officers and some politicians with prostitutes.
