The Goa Police has reportedly submitted a preliminary report on the Balli incident of 26th May to the government; however, nobody was willing to reveal its contents.
Director General of Police Aditya Arya while confirming that the report has been submitted to Special Secretary (Home) refused to divulge any details and merely stated that it was a status report.
All the six cases registered by police in connection with the incident, have been handed over to the Crime Branch for investigations. While five cases were registered at Cuncolim police station, one was registered by the Konkan Railway Police.
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Chief Secretary Sanjay Srivastava claimed to have no knowledge about the report and pointed out that they had just returned to the State from the national capital.
While police have recorded statements of quite a number of people, two United Tribal Association Alliance (UTAA) leaders Govind Gawde and Mallu Velip have been arrested for leading the agitation while Dipak Faldessai is behind bars for the murder of two tribal youth – Manguesh Gaonkar and Dipak Velip.
Another two suspects in the murder case – Narendra Faldesai and Prashan Faldesai – are avoiding the police.
