Three persons were injured, one seriously, when a car and motorbike collided at Dhawali-Ponda on Saturday.
Ponda police said that the accident occurred when 50-year-old Digambar Govind Bhoi, the rider of the bike bearing number GA 05 A 0948 was attempting to cross over to enter a petrol pump and an oncoming speeding car (GA 01 E 5199) rammed into him and his two pillion riders.
Bhoi, his son Govind Digambar Bhoi, 23, and Brahmanand J, 55, all residents of Curti, sustained severe injuries and were rushed to Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital at Bambolim. The condition of the rider is serious.
Ponda police head constable J Fernandes has registered a case of accident against the car driver Sanket Nevrekar of Caranzalem.
As the injured persons were shifted to GMC before police could reach to the accident spot, the police expressed inability to reveal details about their conditions. However, Ponda ID hospital has admitted that the trio was brought to it, adding that during the basic treatment they have found that the Digambar had sustained head injuries and his condition was critical, hence he was referred to GMC by EMRI ambulance.
The hospital sources added that Govind Bhoi had sustained fracture to his left leg while the Brahmanand had sustained fracture to his right leg and have been referred to GMC by Ponda UPHC Ambulance.
