Positivity during pandemic: More COVID-19 patients recover, no fresh death reported in Odisha

New Delhi:  While the Novel Coronavirus continued to threaten the mankind all over the globe, some relief was seen in India, where people were up in arms against the pandemic, with many infectees taking to the recovery path and no deaths being reported from states like Odisha, giving a sense of positivity to the citizens.

As many as 941 new Covid cases and 37 more deaths appeared in last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 12,380 while casualties to 414, Union Health Ministry said here on Thursday.

‘In the last 24 hours, there were 37 deaths and 941 new COVID-19 cases while 183 people recovered,” Union Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said in his daily press briefing.

Across the country, the total number of cases stood at 12,380 with 414 deaths 414 and 1,489 recoveries. He informed that there were 325 districts where no cases have been reported so far. Mahe in Puducherry is one such district where no case has been reported since 28 days, the senior health official said. There are 27 districts where no positive case has been reported in the last 14 days.

With 14 more persons testing positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir valley, the total number of people infected with the virus reached 314 in Jammu and Kashmir. Markets and streets remained deserted as strict restrictions on movement and assembly of people continued for the 28th day in Kashmir valley, where the lockdown would remain imposed till May 3 to curtail the spread of Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, nearly three dozen COIVD-19 patients were treated and discharged from hospitals in J&K so far.
Official sources said that 14 more people tested positive for Coronavirus in Kashmir division while no new cases was reported from Jammu. With this, they said the total number of infected persons has risen to 314. “Out of 314 positive cases, 250 are in Kashmir and 54 are in Jammu,” they said, all the patients are contacts of positive cases.

With detection of two more Corona positive cases, the total number of positive cases has increased to 74 in Bihar so far. Principal Secretary of Health Department Sanjay Kumar said that two fresh Corona positive cases were reported from Buxar where two male, the one is 67 years old and the another 35 years.Giving details of their travel history, he said both had travelled to Asansol and West Bengal.

Gujarat recorded three more death and 105 new Covid cases in last 12 hours, taking the total number of cases to 871 while casualties to 36, an official informed. The latest casualties are of a 60-year-old woman in Ahmedabad, with co-morbidity and hypertension, 80-year-old man with lung disease in Botad and 62-year-old man in Bhuj, Principal Secretary Health, Ms Jayanti Ravi said.

Among the fresh cases, maximum 42 were reported in Ahmedabad, 35 in Surat, eight in Anand, six in Vadodara, four each in Banaskantha and Narmada, three in Rajkot and one each in Gandhinagar, Kheda and Panchmahal.
The death toll in coronavirus related cases rose to 15 with the death of a man, even as 25 more people tested positive, taking the total number of cases in Tamil Nadu to 1,267. Talking to reporters after chairing a review meeting with the District Collectors through video-conferencing from the State Secretariat on the steps to combat the spread of the corona pandemic, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said one person, who tested positive died, taking the toll to 15, which was a mere 1.2 per cent.

Two new positive cases of COVID 19 were detected in Assam, taking the tally to 34, with both new cases linked to Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi. State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that the two new cases have been detected in Morigaon district. “Alert – Two persons from Morigaon have tested #COVID19 positive. They both are secondary contacts of #NizamuddinMarkaz attendees,” he Tweeted.

The second batch of cured COVID 19 patients of Assam, numbering three, were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries and discharges to five in the state. The three patients were treated at the Goalpara civil hospital, and were discharged in the presence of state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
