New Delhi: The Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that there is a possibility of continuing with the ban on flights from the United Kingdom onwards December 31.
After the news reports were out regarding the new strand of Covid infection which was more rapidly spreading in Britain the government had put a ban on flights from UK after 2359 hrs on December 22 which was till December 31 midnight.
Mr Puri here, in a press conference, said that there is a discussion going on whether as to further extend the ban or not.
He said that the decision on this has to be taken by the group of ministers formed to tackle COVID, which he is also a part of.
“I feel that the temporary ban is likely to be extended for sometime “.
As per the consultation with 24 nations and mutual settlements the flight operations had been started and between India and Britain 60 flights were operational.
The Minister further said all the passengers who had come from Britain on November 25 and have been identified and others who are yet to be traced, will be approached by the concerned agency.
