Panaji, Jan 26 (GCCurrentAffairs) Ahead of Lok Sabha elections, fresh fissures seem to be growing in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Goa as war of words has erupted between Akhil Parrikar, member of party’s Mapusa mandal and nephew of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, and Union Minister for AYUSH Shripad Naik, who is Member of Parliament from North Goa Lok Sabha Constituency.
On Friday a video of internal meeting of BJP’s Mapusa Mandal workers went viral. In the video, Akhil Parrikar has allegedly accused Mr Naik of ignoring party workers and Mapusa Assembly constituency.
In the video Akhil has also alleged that Mr Naik should not take his constituency, specially Mapusa Assembly Constituency, for granted. He has also accused the union minister of vanishing after winning elections.
However, while reacting to the comments of Akhil on Saturday, Mr Naik the comments were
‘childish’ and ‘indisciplined’.
“The one who has spoken, has come to my house at least 25 times in the last few years. But he has never complained or raised the issue with me… He is a child. This is childishness. They are still young, they will grow soon and everything will be ok…This is indiscipline. This should be resolved within the organisation itself. They have to inform the president or myself if they have a problem and not speak like this,” Mr Naik told reporters.
Mr Naik and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar are considered two tallest leaders in the state. While Mr Parrikar is know for his acumen, Mr Naik for his amiability. However, both the leaders have had trust deficit though they have denied in public. The party is already facing bickering with alliance partners, chief minister’s health issue and rebellion by former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, who also has been party president in the past, among other things.
