Pranab skips Goa, Congress MLAs Fly to attend Mumbai Rally

While the NDA-supported presidential candidate P A Sangma took time out to visit Goa as part of his campaign trail, former Finance Minister and UPA presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee will not be visiting Goa, instead four Congress MLAs from the state will be meeting him on campaign trail in Mumbai this afternoon.

Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginald Lourenco, Valpoi MLA Vishwajeet Rane, Quepem MLA Chandrakant (Babu) Kavlekar and former Congress Chief Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat will be meeting Mukherjee in Mumbai.

The action of the UPA-presidential candidate further indicates the lack of seriousness of the Congress party to political affairs in Goa and also indicates how little value they place on the importance of the people of Goa. As voiced by a senior Congress leader from Goa, “Mukherjee does not need to campaign in Goa, its to small for him but Sangma does because Goa is too big for someone like him. This election is a foregone conclusion that the former finance minister will win”

However not all Congress MLAs think it is important to go to Mumbai to attend the rally. Like senior MLA said,  “The MLAs should not belittle themselves and go to Mumbai for the rally of Mukherjee, when he did not feel the need to visit Goa.”
