Ms. Pratima Coutinho gave a clarion call to all residents of ward No. 16 of Margao Municipal Council, including her opponents to come together and work as a tem for the next five years to address the needs and requirements of the ward.
Speaking to the gathered crowd after inaugurating her office at Colmorod, she said she had not only forgiven but also forgotten about the people who had worked against her during the council elections and urged to come to the office with their issues and problems so that they can work as a team to improve the ward.
Asserting that Rahul Gandhi was her “master” and guru, she said that she will always remain a Congress Party worker thereby scoffing rumours that she along with her husband may be quitting the Congress due to the snub given to them by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat during the council elections.
In fact, the presence of Margao Municipal Council Chairperson Sushila Naik along with two other councilors Sangeeta Audi and Rosy Pereira – all three known to be very close to Digambar Kamat – indicated that the Countinho’s have buried their hatchet with the Margao MLA.
Pratima is the second councilor to open an office after Sushila Naik and her office will remain open from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm on every Monday and Thursday. “You need not spend money and waste time to go to the town now,” said Pratima while expressing satisfaction that she had fulfilled one promise of opening her office in the ward.
She also used the opportunity to educated the gathered crowd on the duties and responsibilities of the various elected represented by explaining what can be expected of a Councillor and what not. “For example, providing employment in government sector is what the MLA can do and not the Councillor,” he said.
