Delhi: A Delhi Court has directed the preservation of the entire video footage of the police raids at the house of Adv Mehmood Pracha.
Udbhav Kumar Jain, Duty Metropolitan Magistrate, Patiala House Court, however, said that the question regarding the supply of video footage to Pracha can be decided by the relevant court at an appropriate stage.
“At this stage, only directions for preserving the video footage is deemed necessary. The concerned court can take a call on supplying the video footage to the applicant (Pracha) at an appropriate stage.
Let the entire video footage of the search be preserved with the seal of this court and be placed before the concerned court for orders accordingly,” the Court said.
Pursuant to the Court’s order passed on December 25, the Investigating Officer appeared before the court today with the seized case property and video footage of the search.
The Court was informed that the same was handed over to the Malkhana department and was being maintained as per the applicable rules.
The Court also recorded that the report on the execution of the search warrant had also been supplied to Pracha.
Before the Court, Pracha raised queries regarding the duration of the video footage and reiterated his demand for the supply of the same.
The Court adjourned the hearing in the case till January 5 when arguments on the issue of supply of video footage are expected to take place.
Pracha, who has been representing the accused in Delhi riots cases, was raided by the Delhi Police on December 24. The Police claimed that it was searching for “incriminating documents” and metadata of the outbox of the official email id of Pracha’s firm.
He had later moved the Patiala House court in Delhi seeking preservation of copies of the video footage of the raids conducted by Delhi police at his office on Thursday.
